You are Beautiful.

1 Peter 3:4
Our beauty does not come from outward appearance and material styles of this world.  Rather, it should come from your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.
  • Is your self esteem suffering?
  • Do you find you are constantly comparing yourself to others?
  • Do you think you are ugly?
  • Do you feel threatened or intimidated by people you think are pretty or have educational/financial success?
  • Disappointed and dissatisfied with where you are?

Dreading PMS... is it that time of month again?

A Different PMS

Personal Mission Statement
What is it?
It is exactly what you need to identify your GOALS and find the motivation to get it done!
A personal mission statement clearly states your identity as a person and your purpose.
It details how you aim to pursue/achieve that purpose, and why it is so important to you.

Author and career coach Dan Miller says,
"A good mission statement should include
3 things:
  • Your skills & abilities (what you like to do)
  • Your personality traits (how you operate)
  • Your values, dreams & passions (why you want to achieve)

That's all it is!
In just a few simple sentences state exactly WHAT you are all about.
Why a PMS?
So handy and useful.  Whether you are a top executive, stay at home mom, doctor, teacher or internet business owner, taking a few minutes to write yours out and read it daily will transform your life.
It sheds light clearly on where you are going in life.  Small cost for a huge payoff!

Be encouraged that the Bible has all the knowledge you need to know and fully understand the WILL of GOD for your life and how to live.

Having a personal mission statement helps you avoid filling your schedule with clutter and business that's not on track with your mission.  Make sure your mission aligns with God's will for your life.  You can only know that if you READ the Bible.

You can achieve your goals faster having a PMS, but be realistic.  It is not about glorifying oneself and having it your way ... its all about following God's ways and trusting Him as the needs and goals change day to day.
We should live out our personal mission statement and let others know about it as well.
We will stick to it if we are held accountable.

Examples of simple Personal Mission Statements
  • To be a Good Teacher.  To be known for helping kids make wise choices in life.
  • To use my gifts of humor and optimism to contribute to improved health along with providing the best physical care for every patient.
  • To create honest programs that inform and educate using content that is wholesome, researched, accurate and Biblically based.

Goals

Goals POA

Like Dave Ramsey, I recommend you create goals in 7 key areas of life.  Write them down and read twice a day.
Remember, goals with no plan of action are just lofty dreams.

Here are Goal Categories:
  • Spiritual
  • Family
  • Physical
  • Financial
  • Career
  • Emotional
  • Social
Goals must:
  • Be Specific
  • Be Measureable
  • Have a Time Limit
  • Be Yours
  • Be in Writing (read it twice daily)

We must have a POA - PLAN of ACTION to achieve our goals.

Track Your Goals

  • Frame your Personal Mission Statement and Goals!
  • Hang it where you'll read it!
  • Read twice daily! (out loud is better)
  • Update monthly (for short term goals)
  • Adjust Goals to align with your Personal Mission Statement
  • Repeat

Good Habits VS Bad Habits

Good Habits
  • Shape your Faith
  • Strengthen your Body
  • Sharpen your Mind
  • Produce the Fruit of the Spirit

Example of a Short-term GOAL under the category Emotional/Social
It's not often, time is spent away from my family, however, for my own sanity these days, time away from 3 teens proves useful!  Used gifting in kindness, encouragement and decorating to help a friend host a simple Christmas dinner date/Bible study.  It only cost my time doing creative, fulfilling work.  We had fun unpacking china that was in storage for years.  Time with a friend is lovely and encouraging both ways.  Spiritual goals were set higher that day and we look forward to planning the next.  This is a small, yet treasured  part of my life because of the continuous demands of a large family.  It's also my passion, to serve and encourage women.   Serving helps my "happy hormones", declutters my mind and focuses thoughts on something pure, noble, trustworthy and right.  What we do for others, God will do for us.

Bling themed gold & red table setting with minimal expense (for BFF-Budget Friendly Friend). Committed 2 hours planning, 3 hours execution to include shopping time.  Set budget at $50, and completed goal on time (actually 2 days early) for only $42. How?  We planned together and re-purposed some of her stuff.  Yay!  Love it when a plan comes together with excellence.  Blessed when I get a hug and thank you.
... so the story continues...
She tipped me and that money was put towards a future Financial Goal for our twin daughter's Mission Project to reunite with their birthmother in Cebu, Philippines.
Our Mission Project is an example of a long-term GOAL set in 2018 and Camp Laney plans to realize in 2024!

More TOOLS
In my early 20's, I learned about the DISC Personality Profile from Dr. Robert Rohm and Zig Ziglar in a weekend conference.   Great leaders produce great leaders.  It was fascinating to meet them.  Many colleges, businesses, churches and corporations use this model to help with communication and productivity.  Knowing this information has had profound effects with healthy communication with my spouse and children.  It definitely works!
